Analyzing an online survey on user preferences for meal preparation
-
24 Y/O Student.
Jacob, a Bachelor of Music student, has early morning to afternoon classes every day.
Working two days a week, he relies on meal prepping and often resorts to on-the-go and fast foods.
-
31 Y/O Lawyer.
Danny, a father of two, shares a happy marriage with Jane.
His routine involves enjoying breakfast with the family, going to work, returning home before Jane, and preparing dinner for the family.
-
16 Y/O High school student.
Naomi, a high-school student with dreams of becoming a chef and opening her own restaurant, starts her day by assisting her mom in making breakfast.
During school, she enjoys lunch prepared the day before. Upon returning home, she focuses on homework before engaging in cooking sessions with friends or family.
Survey pain points
-
Time
Most users prefer home-cooked meals for financial or health reasons but lack the time for advance food preparation.
-
Knowledge
Existing recipe apps focus solely on providing recipes, disregarding users cooking knowledge levels and suggesting recipes that may be too challenging for them.
-
Quantity
Users often encounter difficulty in scaling up a recipe they like to prepare larger quantities for the upcoming week.
After learning user needs and market weaknesses, I designed a user flow for the app.
